Attended the Salvation Army’s annual Christmas Lunch here. Wonderful venue with excellent food and drinks. Everything arrived beautifully presented, tasted delicious, and the hospitality team brought it right to our tables.
Curious venue with some odd policies — hats are banned, yet I spotted plenty of people wearing them inside anyway. The property holds up impressively after three decades. Went by the name Burswood back in its glory years. Still a solid choice for a night out.
The place has gone backwards — even six years ago it was still worth the trip. Back then $20 got you the casino bus from Yanchep, a feed and a complimentary keno game thrown in. There used to be a bar and somewhere to eat right by the stage and the keno area. These days it’s all under repair and refurbishment, prices have climbed across the board, and winning anything under $500 feels impossible.
An absolute disgrace! We were there celebrating my partner’s grandson turning 18, at Groove bar — and we’re in our mid fifties, mind you. A competition was being announced over the PA, and I simply asked one extremely rude, power-hungry female security guard where the announcements were coming from, since no one visible held a microphone. Her response? Radioing additional guards to march me and our friend off the premises. Seriously, what is happening here? Appalling treatment. A formal complaint about that guard is going in. My partner even has footage of her grinning and laughing while we were walked out!
