This place is Tasmania in a nutshell. Warm, friendly people but everything moves slowly. The free parking wins me over every time. It’s a tiny casino though the pokie sections are reasonably sized. Never saw more than a pair of roulette wheels or two blackjack tables going.
Dropped into this compact venue where just a single roulette wheel was running — but at a $5 minimum on single zero, no complaints from me. Pokies absolutely everywhere, with a handful of table games dotted about. All up, a pleasant little place to kill a few hours and a bit of cash.
Location is superb but the gaming area itself is really small, dominated by pokie machines. Maybe five tables total for poker and the like. Cashing out your pokie credit requires one of their payout cards. On the plus side, unlike Sydney or Melbourne, nobody forces you into a membership before playing — perfect when you’re just passing through on holiday and unlikely to return.
Spent an evening at this wonderfully retro venue — loved the touch of them still calling the buy-ins aloud rather than tapping them into a screen. The blackjack tables gave us plenty of laughs, though what stole the show was gazing out the window mid-hand at Sandy Bay with the mountains behind. Genuinely one of a kind. Even the doorman was warm and courteous, a far cry from certain venues where security comes across pushy and hard. Dealers were lovely too. Top night out.
