Fletcher, wherever you are dealing cards and stealing hearts, this is yours. My blackjack dealer for the night — young bloke, hilarious, armed with a bone-dry wit that turned dropping cash into genuine entertainment.
Don’t expect the polish of the major casino operators here. Then again, it’s far from terrible. The people are welcoming, and both food and drinks are priced fairly given the city-centre spot near the wharf dining strip. My tip: grab a membership the moment you walk in — discounts, free parking, and it won’t cost you a thing.
Brilliant atmosphere and a great spread of games. The real drawcard though is blackjack dealt from actual shoes rather than a CSM! Please don’t ever move away from this — it’s a genuine point of difference for anyone sceptical of those machines… Wonderfully old-school in the best way. The dealers were a fascinating mix… and security kept things low-key, a refreshing change from the heavy-handed approach at the big Sydney and Melbourne venues.
This review covers their Friday and Saturday night NL Texas Holdem specifically. Getting a seat means phoning the venue at exactly midday to land on the list, and half the time nobody even picks up. Messages go unanswered. Two tables exist yet only a single one ever runs. Walk-ins have zero chance of playing. Hopeless for anyone visiting from out of town. The 10-max game crawls along, worse still whenever the auto shuffler dies. The table itself has an odd shape — a dealer cutout means whoever sits beside it can’t see the action or the players opposite. Certain staff get genuinely rude over phones and chip splashing. Rake is steep. Plenty of room for improvement across the board here.
